Our Story

Started in 2019, Studio Vivir is a brand that distinguished itself from competition by focusing solely on creating and selling up-cycled and re-cycled products, every product on our website has a history, where it came from and how we transformed it, we are a human-centeric organisation focusing more on creating jobs for handicraft workers than using automated machines, nothing in our company is mass produced and no two EXACT product can leave our warehouse, while we try our best to maintain uniformity we cannot re-create any of our pieces identically, they're more art than products.

We started this Brand knowing that it won't ever be a big commercial success, but that's okay, our products are for the eco-warriors, for customers who are as special and unique to us as our products. We don't just want to sell a product, we want to create a bond with you, and we feel like a natural friendship will emerge between us for our shared values and passions.

When it comes to sustainability, we’re not just looking at animal protection, but protecting the earth and all it’s limited resources, that is why the leather you see on our website is all genuine leather.

It’s a widely believed (but untrue) concept that Vegan Leather/Faux Leather is more environment friendly than genuine leather, and while there is no two thoughts about which is more animal friendly, when it comes to saving our planet at large, its genuine leather that has the upper hand. There are a few fundamental flaws in the whole ideology of Vegan Leather being superior to Genuine Leather and here is why:

Many vegan leather varieties are petroleum based which undeniably has a bigger environmental carbon footprint.

Vegan leather is non-biodegradable which means we are filling the land with toxic waste every time we discard a vegan leather item, which it turns out is a lot because vegan leather is used for cheaper, fast fashion products which is considerably a lot less durable than real leather.

There aren’t any easy ways to learn where the material for your leather (vegan or genuine) comes from and which is more eco-friendly, it is however crystal clear that up-cycled genuine leather will always be more eco-friendly than both fresh vegan leather and genuine leather.

Up-cycling just 1 kg of leather saves 22,730 Litres of water that it takes to produce new material, by purchasing up-cycled products you can proudly relish in the fact that you’re doing your part in saving the environment!

Letter from the Founder and Creative Director:

Born in a family of entrepreneurs who create and supply high-quality leather products to the international market since the last 2 decades, and as someone who had seen the refined craft of leather processing all around growing up, I have a thorough understanding and appreciation of leather craft.

Studio Vivir started with the belief that there is nothing more timelessly fashionable as Leather is, but I grew up loving and rescuing animals and was determined to find an ethical way of wearing and using leather, one that may fill the user with pride. Indian culture is famous for and provides ample examples of innovative reusing and recycling and that is where I drew my inspiration from.

Through our meticulous process, we convert pre-loved garments such as jackets, seat covers and more into brand new products by reprocessing them to look and feel luxurious and sturdy. You get a new product made from genuine leather without contributing anything to the carbon footprint of the product.

Genuine Leather lasts a lifetime and the class and elegance leather exudes is unquestionable. However, New leather is costly on your pocketbook and the environment. In up-cycling leather into new products, Studio Vivir will help you include an eye-catching and luxurious product in your creative arsenal using second-hand sources for fine leather.

Studio Vivir is unique because it gives new life to products that may have been discarded, it is our way of translating our passion for up-cycling into the philosophy of green fashion.
